Step 1

1. Here is a brief guide on how to cook dumplings in a steamer. First, you need to prepare the dough. Pour water into a bowl and add an egg. Mix thoroughly and season with salt to taste. Gradually add flour and knead a fairly firm dough. Once the dough is ready, set it aside for 25–30 minutes, covered with a towel.

2. Wash the meat and pass it through a meat grinder. Peel the onion and also mince it using the meat grinder. In this version, chicken fillet is used, but it could also be a classic combination of pork and beef, or any other meat mince.

Step 3

3. Season the filling with salt and pepper to taste. You can add your favorite aromatic spices.

Step 4

4. While the filling was being prepared, the dough had already rested, so it's time to proceed to the main process. Roll out the dough fairly thinly on a floured surface.

Step 5

5. Using a glass or cookie cutter, cut out evenly sized circles. Re-knead the leftover dough and roll it out again.

Step 6

6. Place a small amount of filling in the center of each circle. To ensure the dumplings hold their shape when steamed at home, they must be properly sealed.

Step 7

7. Now it's time for the final step—place the dumplings into the steamer basket and steam for 30 minutes. Any extra dumplings can be stored in the freezer.
