Baked potatoes with herring sauce

Description

The recipe won't take much time. Even a man who rarely goes into the kitchen will easily manage to prepare baked potatoes with herring sauce. Everything follows a standard procedure: the potatoes are baked in their skins in the oven, the herring is cleaned from innards, skin, and bones. Then things go slightly differently than usual: a herring sauce is made from herring fillet, gherkins, and sour cream. And here, too, there's hardly any work involved, as everything is simply chopped and mixed. See my recipe below. Serve hot.

Instructions

  1. 1

    Step 1

    Step 1

Prepare all the necessary ingredients. Wash the undamaged and unspoiled potatoes thoroughly with a brush. You can buy ready-made herring fillet, or you can debone the salted herring yourself.

  2. 2

    Step 2

    Step 2

Wrap each potato in foil, place on a baking sheet, and bake in the oven at 180°C for 30-40 minutes. The potatoes should be not just cooked, but slightly falling apart. Of course, this depends on the variety—potatoes with higher starch content will remain denser.

  3. 3

    Step 3

    Step 3

While the potatoes are baking, prepare the sauce. Finely chop the herring fillet, and finely dice the gherkins and onion as well.

  4. 4

    Step 4

    Step 4

Add the sour cream and mix well. I didn't add salt since the herring is already salty, but adjust to your taste.

  5. 5

    Step 5

    Step 5

Remove the cooked potatoes from the foil and let them cool slightly.

  6. 6

    Step 6

    Step 6

Make a shallow cross-shaped cut on each potato and spread the edges apart. Place 1 tablespoon of herring sauce into each resulting small pocket.

  7. 7

    Step 7

    Step 7

That's it! Baked potato with herring sauce is ready! You can eat it right with the skin – it's very delicious!
