Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Mix mayonnaise, sugar, and egg into a homogeneous mixture.
- 2
Step 2

Add vanilla sugar and baking soda, neutralized with vinegar or lemon juice.
- 3
Step 3

Add the flour. I recommend adding not all of it at once, but about 2.5 cups. Add the remaining amount gradually while kneading the dough.
- 4
Step 4

Chop the room-temperature margarine and add it to the future dough. You can soften the margarine by melting it slightly, which will make the dough easier to knead. If you use melted margarine, the dough will be very soft and may stick to your hands.
- 5
Step 5

Knead the dough thoroughly. It should not be too stiff.
- 6
Step 6

And children can already be involved in this process :) Shape the dough into balls about 3 cm in diameter. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- 7
Step 7

Press each dough ball on top with a fork to create a pattern. Place the cookies in a preheated oven at 250 degrees and bake for about 20 minutes.
- 8
Step 8

While baking, keep an eye on the cookies. The finished cookies should be slightly golden. If the cookies turn golden before the recommended time, reduce the baking temperature. Sprinkle the finished cookies with powdered sugar, cinnamon, or cocoa—whatever you prefer.
