Description

Perfectly pairs with tea and coffee. I want to tell you, serve warm or chilled. Ideal with tea.

Instructions

  1. 1

    Step 1

    Step 1

Prepare the ingredients for the cookies and icing. Let's get started!

  2. 2

    Step 2

    Step 2

Add sugar and baking powder to the flour, add a piece of cold butter (margarine), and rub it with your hands into crumbs.

  3. 3

    Step 3

    Step 3

Break the egg over a small plate, set aside half of the white for the glaze, and add the rest to the dough.

  4. 4

    Step 4

    Step 4

Knead a firm dough ball; if it doesn't come together, add a tablespoon of water.

  5. 5

    Step 5

    Step 5

Dust the table with flour and roll out the dough to a thickness of about 0.5 cm. I don't have a special "Paws" cookie cutter, and couldn't find one in the stores either. So I came up with this solution: I used a flower-shaped cookie cutter to cut out the cookies, then simply pressed the bottom of each flower with my fingers to flatten it, turning the flower into a shape resembling a dog's paw.

  6. 6

    Step 6

    Step 6

Place the cookies in a preheated oven for 15 minutes, keep an eye on them. The temperature should be 180 degrees. Once the cookies are golden brown, remove them from the baking sheet and cool on a wire rack.

  7. 7

    Step 7

    Step 7

Now you need to prepare the icing. Sift the powdered sugar into a small bowl. Add half an egg white and starch.

  8. 8

    Step 8

    Step 8

Whisk the mixture with a whisk until it becomes like the one in the photo. This will take one to two minutes.

  9. 9

    Step 9

    Step 9

Now take a mixer or electric whisk and beat the mixture at the lowest speed until it turns pale and increases in volume.

  10. 10

    Step 10

    Step 10

At the end, pour in the lemon juice and beat the mixture once more with a mixer.

  11. 11

    Step 11

    Step 11

Divide the icing into two parts: one should be thicker for making the borders, and the other thinner for filling inside the borders. To avoid confusion, I added a coffee spoon of strong coffee to the thicker portion, which brought it to the right consistency and made it slightly darker. To the other portion, I added a teaspoon of water, then another half teaspoon, achieving the perfect consistency for flooding the cookies with icing.

  12. 12

    Step 12

    Step 12

You can use only food coloring and water to tint the glaze and to dilute it to the desired consistency.

  13. 13

    Step 13

    Step 13

Take a piping bag or a ziplock bag, fill it with thick icing for the rims. Cut off the tip of the bag and start drawing!

  14. 14

    Step 14

    Step 14

Here's what I ended up with. Let the glaze dry, leave the cookies for 30-40 minutes.

  15. 15

    Step 15

    Step 15

Now take another piping bag and fill it with a thinner white icing. Cut off the tip and fill in the inside of the outlines with the icing. If there are any gaps, use a toothpick to spread the icing—it's easy to adjust while still wet. Let the cookies sit for an hour or two until the design is completely dry. After that, store the cookies in a tightly sealed container. Good luck and happy holidays!!!
