Description

Homemade baked goods for tea. If you want to decorate your Christmas tree with edible cookies, I'll tell you. The baked goods are ready. Serve at the table.

Instructions

  1. 1

    Step 1

    Step 1

So, first prepare the ingredients for the cookies. Take the butter out of the refrigerator in advance so that it becomes soft (room temperature).

  2. 2

    Step 2

    Step 2

In a dry container, mix the flour with baking powder, cinnamon, and ginger. You can add vanilla if you like; I sometimes do. Stir and set the flour mixture aside for now.

  3. 3

    Step 3

    Step 3

Mix soft butter with sugar using an electric whisk or mixer. Beat for about 5-7 minutes until a fluffy mixture forms.

  4. 4

    Step 4

    Step 4

Beat the egg, continuously whisking, then pour in the honey. Mix the mixture thoroughly.

  5. 5

    Step 5

    Step 5

Add the flour in small portions. When the mixture becomes thick, transfer it to a work surface. Dust the surface with flour, turn out the dough, and knead until ready.

  6. 6

    Step 6

    Step 6

The dough will turn out soft, pliable, and non-sticky to the hands, but it may melt and become sticky with prolonged handling. Therefore, wrap it in a bag or plastic wrap and refrigerate for 1 hour.

  7. 7

    Step 7

    Step 7

Now for the necessary baking tools: you will need a rolling pin, parchment paper, a cocktail straw, and cookie cutters.

  8. 8

    Step 8

    Step 8

Take the dough out of the refrigerator, cut off a small piece, and return the rest to the refrigerator. Place the dough on parchment paper and slightly roll (flatten) it with your hands on the paper.

  9. 9

    Step 9

    Step 9

Cover with a second sheet of parchment paper and roll out thinly with a rolling pin to a thickness of 0.5 mm. The second parchment sheet will help you easily roll the dough without it sticking to the rolling pin.

  10. 10

    Step 10

    Step 10

Remove the second leaf. It comes off very easily.

  11. 11

    Step 11

    Step 11

Dip cookie cutters in flour, then press out the cookies.

  12. 12

    Step 12

    Step 12

Remove excess dough from the parchment paper. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees, then place the cookies in to bake for 5-7 minutes.

  13. 13

    Step 13

    Step 13

The finished cookies are very soft while still hot, so you can use a straw to make holes for strings to hang them on the Christmas tree later.

  14. 14

    Step 14

    Step 14

You can make holes right away using the same piping tip. Then bake the cookies.

  15. 15

    Step 15

    Step 15

Done! Let the cookies cool. I got exactly 45 pieces!

  16. 16

    Step 16

    Step 16

While the cookies are cooling, you can proceed to prepare the glaze. You will also need food coloring. Additionally, you can decorate the cookies with coconut flakes or sprinkles.

  17. 17

    Step 17

    Step 17

Sift the powdered sugar a couple of times, add starch and mix. Make a depression in the center and pour in the cooled egg white.

  18. 18

    Step 18

    Step 18

Stir well with a whisk or fork until the mixture becomes smooth and uniform.

  19. 19

    Step 19

    Step 19

Using an electric whisk or mixer, beat the mixture for about 10 minutes, until it lightens in color and increases in volume.

  20. 20

    Step 20

    Step 20

At the end of beating, pour in the lemon juice and mix for another couple of minutes. Divide the protein mixture into several parts, depending on the number of colors you are using. Leave one part as white icing, and add food coloring to the rest, mixing well.

  21. 21

    Step 21

    Step 21

Decorate the cooled cookies however you like!

  22. 22

    Step 22

    Step 22

My daughter and I tried making different versions. Some figures we covered completely with icing and sprinkled with decorations; after the icing hardened, everything stayed perfectly in place. Others we simply decorated with designs. The finished cookies should be left for several hours to allow the icing to harden, preferably overnight. Once completely ready, thread strings through the cookies and use them to decorate the Christmas tree!

    Happy New Year!!!
