
Shepherd's pie
Description
The recipe won't take much time. A delicious traditional British dish. Our recipe uses lamb, carrots, and rutabaga, topped with a wonderfully tasty mixture of potatoes and hard cheese. If you've decided to try cooking something from British cuisine, start with the best—prepare a traditional shepherd's pie. Serve hot.

1. Finely chop the onion and garlic. Dice the carrots and rutabaga into small pieces. Chop the parsley finely. Peel the potatoes, cut them into 4 parts, and place them in a pot with salted water to prevent discoloration.

2. Pour olive oil into a saucepan and heat over medium heat. Add chopped onion and garlic. Cook for 5 minutes, stirring the onion frequently, until it begins to brown. Add carrot and rutabaga and cook for another 5 minutes, stirring frequently. Remove ingredients from the pan, transfer to a plate and set aside.

3. Add the lamb mince to the saucepan and fry, stirring constantly, until the meat is browned. When all the mince has turned brown, add the vegetables, parsley, cumin, cinnamon, Worcestershire sauce, broth, and tomato purée. Sprinkle with flour and mix well. Reduce the heat to low, cover with a lid, and simmer for about 35 minutes. Stir every 10 minutes, adding a few tablespoons of water if the mixture starts sticking to the bottom of the pan. Place the potatoes over medium heat for 25 minutes and cook until tender.

4. Drain the potatoes and let them sit for 5 minutes uncovered in the pot. Add the butter and mash the potatoes. This will take about 2 minutes. Transfer the meat to an ovenproof dish.

5. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees Celsius. Use a spoon to evenly spread the potatoes over the meat. Smooth out the potatoes and sprinkle cheese on top.

6. Place the dish in a preheated oven and bake for 30 minutes. Shepherd's pie is ready to serve. Serve with vegetables.
