Parsnip, Baked in the Oven
Description
A delicious appetizer for any gathering. This dish can be an excellent option for a light side to meat or fish. The root vegetable can be prepared in different ways—boiled, sautéed—but today we will bake it. Parsnip, like apples, oxidizes in the air, so it is best to prepare it right away or drop it in water with lemon juice. Its flavor is reminiscent of a mix of carrot and celery, with a sweet-spicy note, and is recommended for those watching their figure and eating healthily. Minimum effort and necessary ingredients, and the result will delight you. Can be served warm or chilled.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Prepare all the necessary ingredients for oven-baked parsnip. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees.
- 2
Step 2

Wash the parsnip roots thoroughly with a brush in hot water and peel off the outer skin. If you don't remove it, it may add a slight bitterness.
- 3
Step 3

Cut the root vegetables into pieces and place them in a baking dish; season with salt. Young root vegetables are best—they are more tender. If a root is large with a tough core, it is best to remove it; it comes away easily.
- 4
Step 4

Season the parsnip with pepper.
- 5
Step 5

Sprinkle with dried herbs; I used parsley.
- 6
Step 6

Pour vegetable oil into the mold and mix.
- 7
Step 7

Mix everything well and spread evenly.
- 8
Step 8

Place the baking dish with parsnips in a hot oven and bake for 15–20 minutes. Mix everything together, bake for another 10–15 minutes, then remove and serve.

Step 9

The appetizer is ready. Serve at the table.
