Pasta with bacon and sauce

Description

The dish is prepared without unnecessary complications. In a large pot, bring slightly salted water to a boil over high heat. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add bacon and cook for 5 minutes until browned, stirring occasionally. Transfer the bacon to a plate. Add onion to the skillet and cook for 7 minutes, stirring occasionally. Return the bacon to the skillet, then add tomato puree, vinegar, red pepper, and salt. Cook over medium heat for 3 minutes, stirring occasionally. Cook pasta according to package instructions. Drain the water. Mix the pasta with the sauce. Add 1/4 cup of cheese and basil. Serve the pasta with the remaining cheese, sprinkled with black pepper if desired. The dish is now ready to be served.
