Turkish baklava
Description
The recipe won't take much time. Some believe that Turkey is the birthplace of this delicious treat, and regardless, this Turkish baklava recipe is my absolute favorite. Essentially, there aren't any significant differences from baklava prepared in other countries—perhaps only the shape is different, but it's precisely this unique shape that makes it especially tasty and interesting. Of course, the preparation process is quite lengthy, but it's so enjoyable that you won't even notice how quickly time flies—I've tested this myself. So surprise your family with this delightful sweet, and I'll gladly show you how to make Turkish baklava. Serve it chilled.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Into the sifted flour, break one egg and add 50 grams of melted butter and a pinch of salt.
- 2
Step 2

Now heat a glass of milk and pour it into the bowl with flour.
- 3
Step 3

Next, we need to knead the dough until it becomes firm and elastic. Once the dough is ready, cover it with a towel and place it in a warm spot for half an hour.
- 4
Step 4

Now you can prepare the filling. Grind the nuts into crumbs, add powdered sugar and cinnamon, and mix well.
- 5
Step 5

After half an hour, take out the dough and divide it into 20 equal balls.
- 6
Step 6

Take one ball of dough and roll it out into a thin sheet, then brush with melted butter.
- 7
Step 7

Now place the prepared filling onto the sheet, about 2-3 tablespoons, leaving space from the edges of the sheet. On top, place any long stick—in my case, a pencil.
- 8
Step 8

And roll the sheet into a roll shape using a pencil.
- 9
Step 9

Then we move the edges of the roll towards the center and remove the pencil.
- 10
Step 10

We perform the same operation with the remaining 19 balls. Now we take out a baking dish, grease it with butter, and place the prepared rolls tightly next to each other. We mix egg yolk with a tablespoon of milk and brush the rolls with this mixture. Then we put the dish into a preheated oven at 200 degrees for 10-15 minutes.
- 11
Step 11

After the time has elapsed, we need to take out the baklava and brush it with the remaining melted butter. Put it back in the oven, but this time reduce the temperature to 170 degrees and bake for about an hour.
- 12
Step 12

Meanwhile, we mix honey and water in a saucepan, place it over heat, and boil the mixture for 10 minutes after it starts boiling.
- 13
Step 13

When the baklava is ready, we take it out of the oven and pour the prepared honey mixture over it, letting it steep for about 1.5 to 2 hours. Then, we can call the family to the table and treat them to the delicious Turkish baklava.
