Indian baklava
Description
Here is a simple recipe for Indian-style baklava. First, prepare the baklava dough; while it is "resting," you can make the syrup. Shape the dough into baklava pieces and fry them on a hot skillet. Then cool them and dip into the syrup. Serve baklava sprinkled with nuts or sesame seeds. Good luck!
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Knead the dough using sparkling water, flour, 1 tsp of sugar, and a pinch of salt. Let it rest for 10 minutes.
- 2
Step 2

Prepare a syrup from sugar and water (140 ml). The sugar should dissolve completely. Cool the syrup and add honey. Mix well.

Step 3

Divide the dough into 5-6 parts, roll each part into a thin sheet. Let the sheets dry for 5-6 minutes on each side.

Step 4

Roll each sheet into a log, dusting it with flour. Cut the log into pieces about 2 cm wide. Moisten the edges with water and slightly flatten each piece.

Step 5

Now fry the baklava in vegetable oil over medium heat. Pour in plenty of oil—at least a finger's height in the pan. Fry on all sides until evenly golden brown. Then place the baklava on a paper towel to drain excess oil.

Step 6

Cool the baklava, then dip it in the syrup for 30 seconds. Remove the sweet from the syrup and sprinkle with nuts or sesame seeds.
