Oat jelly made from whole oats
Description
The drink is quick and easy to prepare. This kissel made from whole oats is more nutritious than that made from regular oat flakes. However, such oats are not so easy to find. You can purchase them at pharmacy chains or pet stores selling animal feed. Never buy oats from garden supply stores, as they are treated with chemicals. To grind the oats, you will need a blender. Do not use a meat grinder, as the grains are very dense and it may simply burn out or the blades may break. Depending on the quality of the oats, the kissel turns out either simply thick or transforms into a jelly-like consistency that can be cut with a knife or eaten with a spoon. This kissel is especially delicious when served with kvass.
