Oatmeal with caramelized apples
Description
The dish is prepared without unnecessary complications. This porridge makes an excellent breakfast, a wonderful afternoon snack, or even a light dinner. Everyone knows about the exceptional benefits of oatmeal in our diet. It's a real lifesaver, recommended by many doctors and nutritionists. There is a huge variety of oatmeal dishes, and they enjoy well-deserved popularity, especially among moms who have picky eaters at home. To add some variety to the traditional taste of this porridge, I suggest topping it with caramelized apples. You can garnish the porridge to your liking when serving. The dish is simple, quick to prepare, and requires minimal ingredients. The finished dish is ready to be served.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Prepare the ingredients for making porridge.
- 2
Step 2

Wash the apple, peel and cut it into pieces. Place in a frying pan, add butter. Simmer the apples over low heat until soft.
- 3
Step 3

Add sugar to the frying pan.
- 4
Step 4

Continue simmering the apples until the sugar is completely dissolved and a light brown color is achieved. I want to warn you that not all types of sugar will produce this color.
- 5
Step 5

Cook the oatmeal. Pour water and milk into a saucepan, add salt and sugar. Place the saucepan on the stove.
- 6
Step 6

Add quick-cooking oats and mix with milk, water, sugar, and salt.
- 7
Step 7

Cook the porridge for 5-6 minutes after boiling, considering that these are quick-cooking flakes. Regular ones take longer to cook.
- 8
Step 8

Transfer the porridge to a plate. Top with caramelized apples. You can garnish with raisins or, as in my case, dried cherries.
