Description

The baking is simple and quick. Making sheep-shaped pastries from buttery dough is best done with children. You'll need to roll many small balls. To make the sheep, prepare the dough by beating room-temperature butter with sugar, egg, flour, baking powder, salt, and vanilla. Then chill the dough in the refrigerator. After that, you can start working with the dough and shaping delightful, carefree little sheep. Serve warm or chilled. Perfect with tea.

    Step 1

    1. We will need butter at room temperature. Beat the butter with sugar in a bowl until smooth, then add the egg and vanilla. Beat thoroughly again. Then add the flour, baking powder, and salt previously mixed in another bowl. Mix again. Divide the resulting dough into two parts, add cocoa to one part and beat. If you want the dough to be a more intense color, add more cocoa powder.

    2. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap, keeping the brown and white dough separate, and refrigerate for about an hour or longer—the dough can chill in the refrigerator for up to four hours. Then, get started. Call the kids to help and start rolling small balls. The sheep can be either white with black heads and legs, or black with white heads and legs, respectively. For the body, you'll need about 10–12 balls of one color, and for the head and legs—three balls of the other color. Arrange the balls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, as shown in the picture.

    3. Preheat the oven to 190 degrees. Meanwhile, flatten the dough balls into a single mass.

    4. Bake the sheep-shaped cookies in the oven for 9–10 minutes, until they turn golden brown. The buttery dough hardens as it cools, so after removing them from the oven, let the cookies cool completely.
