Piped shortbread cookies
Description
Delicious baked goods for the whole family. Piped cookies can be made with a piping tip. The star tip is handy to use. Note that you should not chill the dough in the refrigerator before shaping the cookies—it will cool and become very hard to pipe. When choosing jam or fruit spread, opt for a thick one. The baking is ready. Serve at the table.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Prepare the necessary ingredients.
- 2
Step 2

In a bowl, combine room-temperature margarine and sugar. Whisk until smooth and uniform.
- 3
Step 3

Add the egg to the butter mixture. Beat with a mixer.
- 4
Step 4

Add the flour, salt, and baking soda. Beat with a mixer.
- 5
Step 5

The resulting dough should be smooth, soft, tender, and have a spreadable consistency.
- 6
Step 6

Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Transfer the dough to a cellophane cone or a piping bag without a tip. Pipe small round mounds onto the baking sheet. Press the centre of each mound with your finger.
- 7
Step 7

Pipe or dollop a thick jam (fruit butter) into the centre of each piece. A small dab is enough. Place the baking sheet with the biscuits in an oven preheated to 180°C for 7–10 minutes. Allow for how your own oven behaves.
- 8
Step 8

When the time is up, remove the baking sheet from the oven. The cookies will be lightly golden brown. Cool on the sheet. Then transfer to a serving dish and serve.
- 9
Step 9

Remove from the oven and serve warm or at room temperature.
