Open pie with potatoes and herring roe
Description
The baking is simple and quick. Leftovers, as you know, aren't always sweet. Sometimes you have a bit of dinner or lunch left over, and that's always a perfect chance to make an interesting pie! For example, we often have leftover fish roe when serving herring with onion and butter for dinner. But a pie made with that roe disappears "in no time." And don't worry—there won't be any awful smell while baking. Serve it with tea or coffee.
Instructions

Step 1

For the dough, whisk the kefir with egg, butter, and salt until smooth. Add the flour sifted with baking soda, include 2 tablespoons of bran, and knead into a thick dough.

Step 2

Place it into a low baking dish, smooth it out and form small edges, then sprinkle the remaining bran on top.
- 3
Step 3

Peel the potatoes and grate them coarsely. Rinse well under cold water to remove excess starch, then squeeze thoroughly. Dry further with a paper towel.
- 4
Step 4

Place the potatoes on the dough. Season with black pepper to taste and add a little salt.
- 5
Step 5

Place the sliced pieces of cod with butter on top.

Step 6

Bake in a preheated oven at 200 degrees until the potatoes are lightly golden. Then remove the pie and pour over the mixture of grated cheese and sour cream. Smooth out the cheese topping and continue baking at 180 degrees until done—about 15 minutes.

Step 7

Remove the finished cake onto a cloth, let it cool slightly, and serve warm.
