Autumn Apple and Blackberry Pie
Description
The dish is prepared without unnecessary complications. Whisk together granulated sugar, cornstarch, cinnamon, and salt in a large bowl. Add apples and blackberries. Pour the filling into the prepared pie crust and dot with butter. Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F), placing the rack in the lower third of the oven. Meanwhile, brush the edges of the pie with egg yolk. Arrange pastry leaves over the filling, slightly overlapping them. Lightly brush the top of the pie with egg yolk. Sprinkle with powdered sugar. Chill in the refrigerator for 30 minutes. Bake the pie until the crust is golden, about 20 minutes. Then reduce the oven temperature to 175°C (350°F). Continue baking until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbling, 1 hour 45 minutes to 1 hour 55 minutes. Transfer to a wire rack and let cool completely. The pie can be stored at room temperature for 1 day. Serve the finished dessert.
