
Nut Cake with Maple Cream
Description
Homemade baked goods for tea. Recipe for a cake with walnuts and a cream made from butter, maple syrup, and powdered sugar. This three-layer maple cream cake is a wonderful autumn dessert. Serve warm or chilled. Perfect with tea.

Step 1

1. Preheat the oven to 175 degrees. Line a cake pan with parchment paper or grease it with butter and dust with flour. In a large bowl, combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt; set aside. In a medium bowl, whisk together maple syrup and milk; set aside. In a large bowl, beat butter and sugar together with a mixer. Add eggs, one at a time. Add vanilla and beat. Add about 1/3 of the flour mixture and mix. Add half of the syrup mixture and beat. Add another third of the flour and mix, then add the remaining syrup and beat. Finally, add the rest of the flour and beat until smooth. Stir in chopped nuts.

2. Pour the batter into the prepared pan. Bake for 25-30 minutes, until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out with a few crumbs. Let cool in the pan for about 2 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely. Cut the cake into 3 layers.

3. To make the frosting, beat the butter on high speed using a mixer. Beat in the powdered sugar. Add vanilla, sugar, and maple syrup, and beat until combined. Add heavy cream and beat on high speed for 4 minutes. Frost the cake layers, sides, and top of the cake.
