Nut rolls
Description
The pastry is simple and quick to make. I ended up with 11 tender buns with a nut filling. You can double or triple the ingredient quantities. Everything is aromatic, sweet, and delicious—simply the perfect dessert for a cozy family tea time! Good luck. Serve warm or chilled. Perfect with tea.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Prepare the ingredients. Let's get started!
- 2
Step 2

Dissolve yeast, sugar, and salt in warm milk (38-39 degrees).
- 3
Step 3

Add the egg, clarified butter, and vegetable oil, and mix.
- 4
Step 4

Add the sifted flour in small portions and knead the dough. Add vanilla sugar.
- 5
Step 5

The dough should not be stiff; it's enough for it to not stick too much to your hands. Shape it into a ball, place in a deep dish, cover with a clean cloth, and let the dough rise in a warm place for 2 hours.
- 6
Step 6

Prepare the nut filling. Shell the walnuts and fry them in a pan until they release a pleasant aroma.
- 7
Step 7

Grind the nuts through a meat grinder, add soft butter, sugar, and cinnamon if desired. Mix well; the filling is ready.
- 8
Step 8

The dough has risen, press it down with your hands.
- 9
Step 9

Sprinkle the table with flour, roll out the dough into a rectangle. Evenly spread the nut filling.
- 10
Step 10

Press the nuts slightly into the dough. Now place a third of the dough in the center, as shown in the photo.
- 11
Step 11

Cover with the remaining third of the dough.
- 12
Step 12

Using a large sharp knife, cut the dough into small pieces.
- 13
Step 13

Roll each piece of dough a couple of times and place on a greased baking sheet. Brush with egg yolk and let the buns rest for 15–20 minutes in a warm place.
- 14
Step 14

Bake the buns at 200 degrees for about 20-25 minutes. Watch so they don't burn. They bake quickly! Enjoy!
