Japanese-Style Rice Omelet
Description
It works for both special occasions and everyday meals. The recipe for Japanese-style rice omelet has European roots and was first made in Japan only in 1902. Yet the dish took hold so strongly there that it became one of the staples of Japanese cuisine—there are even restaurants that specialize solely in this kind of omelet. In general, there is no fixed set of ingredients for this dish, so you can experiment freely with it, but you cannot do without rice and, of course, the omelet itself. And if you are in the mood for something exotic, you do not have to travel to distant Asian countries—I will gladly tell you how to make Japanese-style rice omelet at home.
Instructions

Step 1

For this recipe, it is best to use special rice for Japanese dishes. Cook the rice until fully done according to the instructions on the package.

Step 2

Cut the chicken fillet into small pieces. Lightly beat the eggs in a bowl and season with salt and pepper. Cool the cooked rice and mix it with soy sauce and rice vinegar.

Step 3

In a skillet, heat a small amount of vegetable oil. Over high heat, sauté the vegetable mixture for one to two minutes.
- 4
Step 4

Add the dressed rice and mix everything together.
- 5
Step 5

Now add the diced chicken breast, ketchup, mix, and fry for 1–2 minutes. Transfer the prepared filling to a bowl.

Step 6

Grease the pan again with vegetable oil and pour the beaten eggs onto it. Fry until the bottom of the omelet has thickened and the top is still slightly runny. Place the filling prepared earlier on one half of the omelet and carefully roll the omelet into a roll. Serve the finished dish hot, garnished with ketchup.
