Russian-Style Omelet

Description

The appetizer is quick and easy to make. The classic recipe for making a Russian-style omelet is very simple. It’s made without any fillings or spices—there was simply nowhere for an ordinary Russian person to get them. Traditionally it was cooked in a stove/oven (in the traditional version), and we’ll make it in an oven. So, let’s get to work: 1. Beat the eggs, milk, and salt with a fork. Not until foamy—just enough for all the ingredients to combine into a smooth mixture. 2. Grease the baking molds with butter. 3. Pour the egg-and-milk mixture into the molds. 4. Put them in an oven preheated to 200°C for about 25 minutes. Of course, you can make an omelet in a frying pan too, but that will be a slightly different dish—after all, in Rus’ omelets were baked in the stove, not cooked over an open flame. And personally, I like this Russian-style omelet more: it bakes perfectly on the inside and gets a light crust on the outside. If you want, you can of course add other ingredients to the Russian-style omelet recipe (cheese, cracklings, cottage cheese—whatever you like), but again, that would be a departure from the classic version. Good luck. Serve with herbs and sauce.
