Step 1

1. Even novice cooks know how to make a pan omelette. The beauty of this dish is that it is very versatile and is great not only for breakfast but for dinner too. First, gather and prep all ingredients. Wash and dry scallions, tomato, and mushrooms. Chop the vegetables and ham. Grate the cheese.

2. Add a little oil to the pan and heat it well. You may use either butter or olive oil. Add the onion, mushrooms, tomatoes, and ham to the hot oil. Fry briefly, just until lightly golden.

Step 3

3. Crack the eggs into a bowl and beat them well. Season with salt to taste. You can also add pepper or spices if you like.

Step 4

4. While the omelette cooks, tilt the pan slightly from time to time. That way the filling will not gather in one spot and the omelette will cook evenly.

Step 5

5. At home you can make a skillet omelette with absolutely any filling. You can add not only vegetables or meat but also seafood and even mashed potato. Yet the standout feature of any omelette will be a delicate cheesy crust. When only a couple of minutes are left until the omelette is done, sprinkle grated cheese over it and cover the pan with a lid. When serving, garnish the omelette with fresh vegetables or herbs; outside the season canned vegetables pair perfectly with it.
