Apple pancakes with water
Description
Perfectly pairs with tea and coffee. This recipe is suitable for fasting. If you're not fasting, you can prepare the pancakes using buttermilk, kefir, or milk instead of water. I had buttermilk on hand, so that's what I used. If you're making pancakes with water, you should still prepare a starter, then knead the dough. Nothing changes (except the base). The result is a completely fasting-friendly dish that is not only delicious but also filling. The baked goods are ready. Serve at the table.
Instructions

Step 1

1. Since I don't observe Lent, I used sour milk instead of water. Originally, this recipe was shared with me by a woman who always observes Lent and works at a church. These little pancakes can be made not only with apples but with any fruits you like.

Step 2

2. Mix the sour milk with sugar (salt can be added to taste). The base (sour milk or water) should be warm.
- 3
Step 3

3. Add the yeast and a couple of tablespoons of flour. Let our starter rest until it rises slightly.
- 4
Step 4

4. Peel the apples. It's better to use sweet-sour varieties. I used "Semerenko" apples.
- 5
Step 5

5. Grate the apples on a medium or fine grater.
- 6
Step 6

6. Meanwhile, our starter is ready. Add the apples to it and gradually incorporate the flour, kneading the dough.
- 7
Step 7

7. The dough should be thick in consistency.
- 8
Step 8

8. Fry the pancakes on both sides in vegetable oil.

Step 9

9. I always remove excess fat using paper towels or napkins. Apple water pancakes are served hot or cold.
