Classic white cake

Description

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Grease the baking pan with vegetable oil and dust with flour. In a medium bowl, beat butter and granulated sugar. Add eggs one at a time to the mixture, then add vanilla extract at the end. In a separate bowl, combine flour and baking powder, then gradually add to the beaten mixture. Add milk until the batter becomes smooth. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan. Bake for 30–40 minutes in the preheated oven. If making cupcakes, bake for 20–30 minutes. The cake is done when it springs back when touched.
