Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Prepare the listed ingredients. You can bake the potatoes, boil them in their skins, or boil them peeled in unsalted water.
- 2
Step 2

Mash the boiled potatoes with a fork without adding any liquid. This is very important—do not add any liquid! Then beat in a whole chicken egg, add spices and herbs. Many people omit the egg white, but it is precisely the whole egg that keeps the gnocchi from falling apart during cooking! Thoroughly mash the potato mixture once again.

Step 3

Add the high-grade wheat flour and knead it into the mixture, reserving about one-third for rolling.
- 4
Step 4

Form a sausage shape from the potato dough and place it on a floured work surface.
- 5
Step 5

Cut the dough into pieces 1-1.5 cm wide. Keep in mind that gnocchi will increase in size when cooked. At this stage, the dough can be frozen as a semi-finished product.
- 6
Step 6

Bring the water to a boil and add the prepared items one by one, cooking for about 5-7 minutes until they increase in size.
- 7
Step 7

Pour the cream into a frying pan and crumble the cheese into it. Add 1 tsp of wheat flour and mix. Add a pinch of salt.
- 8
Step 8

Bring the sauce to a slight thickening. Optionally, you can stir in a little butter and ground thyme.
- 9
Step 9

Place the potato gnocchi on a plate and pour the cheese sauce over them. Serve warm.
