Nigiri with salmon
Description
Nigiri is made very quickly and easily — you only need to cook the rice ahead of time and mix it with the seasoning. After that, you can keep the rice in the refrigerator and prepare a delicious appetizer whenever it suits you. By the way, you can salt-cure salmon fillet using one of the recipes on the site. Serve the appetizer at the table.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Prepare the listed ingredients. Choose round-grain rice; parboiled rice is also fine. Buy lightly salted salmon at a store or supermarket—you may use ready-sliced red fish or salt it yourself at home.

Step 2

Rinse the rice in several changes of water and transfer it to a saucepan or a pot with a non-stick bottom. Pour in hot water and boil for about 12 minutes from the moment the water comes to a boil. Skim off the foam that forms and reduce the heat to the lowest setting. Once the time is up, mix the vinegar, salt, and sugar in a separate bowl, pour into the rice, and stir. Cool the cooked boiled rice.

Step 3

Then wet your hands in water and shape small oval portions from the rice. Place them on a plate and spread cream cheese or wasabi on top—whichever you prefer. For children, cream cheese is best; for adults, wasabi.

Step 4

Slice the flesh of lightly salted red fish into slices and place on the rice.

Step 5

Cut narrow strips from the nori sheet and use them to garnish the prepared salmon nigiri. The dish is ready!

Step 6

Serve the nigiri chilled to the table with soy sauce, wasabi, and pickled ginger.
