Non-sweet baked goods
Description
Perfectly pairs with tea and coffee. Yeast-raised sweet baked goods are certainly delicious, but also high in calories. It's better not to eat them in large quantities if you're watching your figure. I really like making a non-sweetened dough with sour cream, without yeast, using margarine or butter. To prepare non-sweetened baked goods, you'll need medium-fat sour cream, and for the filling — thick jam or preserves. You can choose any kind to your taste, just make sure it's not runny. The kufliks turn out especially tasty if you add nuts and ground poppy seeds mixed with sugar to the filling. Serve with tea or coffee.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Cut the cold butter or margarine into cubes (you can also grate it) and rub it into the flour until crumbs form.
- 2
Step 2

Add the sour cream and knead a soft dough. Wrap it in plastic wrap and refrigerate for an hour (or even two).
- 3
Step 3

Then roll out the dough on a floured surface very thinly (up to 0.5 cm).
- 4
Step 4

First, spread with jam or preserves.
- 5
Step 5

Then, if desired, you can add chopped nuts or poppy seeds mixed with sugar.
- 6
Step 6

Roll it up tightly into a roll. Turn it seam-side down.
- 7
Step 7

Cut into portion-sized pieces.
- 8
Step 8

Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Preheat the oven to 200°C. Bake for 25–30 minutes, until golden brown. The koufliky may be ready earlier, depending on the thickness of the roll and your oven's characteristics. Therefore, keep an eye on them to prevent burning.
- 9
Step 9

Dust the ready unsweetened pastry with powdered sugar, and you can serve it hot from the oven.
- 10
Step 10

I decided not to cut part of the roll, so I got these roll-croissants.
