Description

The drink is quick and easy to prepare. The blackcurrant or redcurrant infusion turns out bright red, but with a muted or slightly blurred shade. It smells wonderful! You can make it ready in just two weeks—just make sure to choose good quality vodka. Making currant infusion is very simple. Here's my easy recipe: 1. Use a fork to remove currant berries—black or red—from their stems. Clean off any leaves and rinse the berries thoroughly several times. Lay them out on a towel to dry. 2. Once the berries are dry, place them into convenient bottles or jars. Some people add about ten currant leaves. Of course, the leaves must come from a bush grown in a clean area and be as clean and dry as possible. I haven't tried it with leaves myself, but it's said to give a richer flavor. Anyway, let's continue. If you're using multiple bottles, distribute the berries evenly by eye. Sprinkle sugar over the berries. For convenience, use a funnel. 3. Pour vodka over the berries and sugar, seal the bottles tightly, and shake well. Store the infusion in a dark place for two weeks. Check occasionally and shake the bottles to help the sugar dissolve and mix the layers. 4. After two weeks, strain the infusion through cheesecloth. That's it! Your currant infusion is ready! You can now throw a party and serve it. Store the infusion in a dark, cool place or in the refrigerator. Don't overdo it. Ready to serve.
