Herring Platter for the Holiday Table
Description
The appetizer comes together quickly and easily. That’s exactly why I suggest you read about an interesting way to serve herring at the table. I decided to serve it with marinated onion, little cucumbers, olives, and button mushrooms. Everything goes well together. And if you also arrange all the ingredients nicely on the plate, the appetizer will disappear in no time. French mustard adds a piquant note to the dish. The appetizer is ready. Serve right away.
Instructions

Step 1

Peel the onion and slice it into half-rings. Add a marinade of lemon juice, pepper, salt, and sugar to the onion. Squeeze the half-rings with your hands.

Step 2

Cut the herring on the bias into 0.5 cm wide pieces. Stack them on top of each other to form a "rose." Make a sauce from oil and mustard (simply mix the two ingredients). You can also score a long strip of fish fillet as if you were about to cut it into pieces, but without cutting all the way through. This makes the fish easier to arrange on the plate, but harder for guests to serve themselves.

Step 3

Place the fish in the center of the serving platter. On one side, arrange the onion, and on the other, lemon wedges. Also arrange the gherkins, olives, and mushrooms. Garnish the appetizer with parsley and drizzle everything with sauce. Enjoy your tasting!
