Napoleon made from puff pastry
Description
Homemade dessert for tea. This delicious "Napoleon" cake made with ready-made puff pastry can even be prepared by a beginner cook—the main thing is to know how to handle a rolling pin. The cake layers bake very quickly and turn out light and crispy. The most important things are to roll the dough very thin and keep an eye on it while baking. For the cream, you can either make a custard or whip together condensed milk with butter. You can decorate the cake simply by sprinkling it with crumbs, grated chocolate, pouring melted chocolate over it, or garnishing with fruits—let your imagination guide you. Well then, that's it. The dessert is ready. Serve it at the table.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

First, place the puff pastry on the table to thaw. If you have sheet pastry, there's no problem. But if it's in one piece, it needs to be cut. Cut the pastry into 15-16 pieces.
- 2
Step 2

Thaw the dough, then roll it out into thin rectangular or square layers. You can bake it on parchment paper, or simply lightly dust the baking sheet with flour. Prick each layer with a fork.
- 3
Step 3

Bake the cake layers in a preheated oven at 200 degrees until golden brown.

Step 4

The cake layers bake quickly, so first let's bake all of them. Now we'll prepare the cake cream. We need soft butter, to which we'll add condensed milk, powdered sugar, and brandy. Beat with a mixer until smooth and fluffy.
- 5
Step 5

We spread all the layers with cooled cream and gently press them together. One layer—the crispiest one—we'll set aside to crush later.
- 6
Step 6

Trim and smooth the cake edges. Then coat the cake on top and sides with crumbs. You can use crushed walnuts or chocolate for coating. Let the cake soak for at least a couple of hours, then it's ready to serve.
