Description
According to the original recipe, no sugar is added to the dough. Therefore, it's better to choose sweet jam. The pastries fry very quickly. To prevent the oil from becoming bitter, it's best to change the oil after frying two batches. Serve warm or cooled. Perfect with tea.
Instructions

Step 1

First, prepare a simple dough: mix flour, water, and a tablespoon of vegetable oil. Add a pinch of salt to the dough and knead well by hand. Let the dough rest for 30 minutes.

Step 2

Roll out the dough into a thin layer. The dough is quite sticky, so generously dust the work surface, rolling pin, and hands with flour. Try to roll it out to a fairly thin layer, about 3 mm.

Step 3

Using a glass, cut out circles from the dough. Place a few cherries from the cherry jam on each circle. Fold the dough in half, enclosing the filling inside, and carefully pinch the edges of the turnover to seal well, preventing the jam from leaking out.

Step 4

Pour oil into a frying pan to a depth of about one centimeter and heat it well. Place the first batch of buns into the pan. Fry for several seconds on each side until a golden crust forms.

Step 5

Place the finished buns on a paper towel as you remove them from the pan to drain excess oil. When the buns have cooled slightly, you can dust them with powdered sugar. This is especially important if your cherry jam is somewhat tart.
