Hungarian-style meat
Description
The dish is prepared without unnecessary complications. Hungarian cuisine is famous for its recipes of tender, melt-in-the-mouth meat with rich sauces. Here's another Hungarian recipe—Hungarian-style meat, or "paprikash." Minimal time and effort, maximum flavor. Mashed potatoes or fluffy rice will make the perfect side dish. Read on. The finished dish is ready to be served.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Wash the meat and cut it into small portion-sized pieces.
- 2
Step 2

Wash the mushrooms and cut them into large slices (cut small mushrooms in half, large ones into 4 pieces). Finely chop the onion.
- 3
Step 3

Pour vegetable oil into a pan, add the sliced meat, and fry until a crust forms.
- 4
Step 4

Transfer the fried meat to a plate, then add mushrooms and onions to the skillet. Sauté the mushrooms with the onions in the meat juices and oil for a couple of minutes, then add paprika and mix everything well.
- 5
Step 5

Pour warm water into a glass and add a spoonful of flour. Pour the flour diluted in water into the pan.
- 6
Step 6

Then add the meat to the pan, salt it, add the spices, and bring to a boil.
- 7
Step 7

After this, transfer the meat into individual baking dishes or a large cast-iron pot (depending on what you have available), cover the container with a lid, and place it in the oven. Cook for one and a half hours at 200 degrees.
- 8
Step 8

After the meat is ready, add the sour cream, mix and let it sit for 15 minutes. Serve, sprinkled with fresh herbs.
