French-style meat in an air fryer
Description
To properly cook meat à la française, bake it in layers: first potatoes, then meat, and finally cheese on top. You can optionally add onions and tomatoes, but they should also be baked layer by layer, since the air fryer only heats from above. If you place all the layers at once, the potatoes and meat won't cook through and will remain raw, while the cheese will burn.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Prepare the listed ingredients. Peel the potatoes and rinse them in water. If you decide to add an onion, peel and rinse it as well. Rinse the meat, remove the tendons and membranes, and dry it with paper towels.
- 2
Step 2

Line the air fryer basket with parchment paper and grease it with vegetable oil to prevent sticking to the bottom.
- 3
Step 3

Cut the pork into slices no thicker than 1 cm. Try to cut wide pieces that can be easily pounded.
- 4
Step 4

Using a meat mallet, pound each piece of meat on both sides as thinly as possible.
- 5
Step 5

Season with pepper and sprinkle with the spice mix, reserving some for the potato layer. Optionally, you can add more ground paprika, powdered dried garlic, etc.
- 6
Step 6

Slice the potato tubers into slices no thicker than 0.5 cm. Arrange them overlapping on parchment paper. Sprinkle with seasoning or other herbs and spices.
- 7
Step 7

Carefully spread the potato layer with sour cream of any fat content or mayonnaise. You can simply spray with vegetable oil. Bake the potatoes for 15 minutes at 180 degrees. Remember that the slices should not be too thick.
- 8
Step 8

When the potatoes are almost done and nicely browned, place the pounded meat on top of them.
- 9
Step 9

Brush the meat with sour cream or mayonnaise and bake for another 15 minutes at 180 degrees.
- 10
Step 10

While the pork is cooking, grate any hard cheese on a fine grater and spread it over the pork.
- 11
Step 11

Bake for another 5-8 minutes until the cheese layer melts and an incredible aroma fills the kitchen.
- 12
Step 12

Carefully place the prepared French-style meat from the air fryer onto a plate and serve hot with various sauces and beverages. Enjoy your meal!
