
Beef stroganoff with potatoes in the oven
Description
The dish is prepared without unnecessary complications. The well-known main course—French-style meat with potatoes in the oven—takes an hour and a half to prepare. If you already have ready-made minced meat, it will be even faster. This recipe differs slightly from the traditional one, but the taste of the dish remains unchanged—in fact, it stays impeccable. The first layer consists of potatoes, followed by onion, minced meat, potatoes again, and cheese. Each layer is coated with mayonnaise, then the whole dish is poured over with an egg-milk mixture. The finished dish can be served immediately.

1. I recently prepared French-style meat with potatoes in the oven for my husband's birthday. I decided to follow this exact recipe. Peel the potatoes and thinly slice them into rounds. Separately, slice the onion into half-rings. You can marinate the onion if desired, but I didn't, as it will also marinate under the mayonnaise.

2. Place the potatoes on a baking sheet, slightly overlapping the slices. Spread with mayonnaise and add the onion.

3. Place the minced meat on top and spread mayonnaise over it again. Traditionally, meat à la française is made with pork slices, but no one forbids experimenting.

4. Cover everything with potatoes, spread mayonnaise again, and sprinkle with cheese. Now put it in the oven for 1 hour. The temperature should not exceed 180 degrees. Separately, beat the eggs and milk, add salt and spices, then pour this mixture over the meat and potatoes.

5. After baking, let it stand for a while. A beautiful golden crust forms due to the cheese and the custard.
