
Bulgarian-style moussaka

1. How to make Bulgarian moussaka? First, wash and dry the meat. Then cut it into small pieces or pass it through a meat grinder. Pour a little vegetable oil into a frying pan and sauté the meat.

5. Salt and pepper the meat with onion to taste. Add your favorite spices if desired. Place on the bottom of a heatproof dish.

6. Wash the bell pepper, dry it, and remove the stems and seeds. Slice thinly into rounds and place on top of the meat.

7. Wash the tomatoes and slice them into rounds. Season with salt to taste and place in the baking dish.

9. Peel the garlic and finely chop it. If desired, press it using a garlic press. Spread it evenly over the entire surface on top of the eggplants.

10. Wash and peel the potatoes. Slice them thinly and place in a baking dish. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Bake in a preheated oven for 20–25 minutes.

11. Meanwhile, grate the cheese on a fine grater and prepare the egg-milk mixture. You can also slightly salt and pepper it to taste, if desired.

12. Pour the milk with beaten egg over the moussaka and sprinkle cheese on top. Return to the oven until a delicious golden crust forms.
