Rosehip compote
Description
The recipe won't take much time. Remember that rosehip morse, like all other drinks made from these berries, should always be consumed through a straw to protect tooth enamel from discoloration! It's best to serve the drink warm, adding honey or sugar to taste, if not done earlier. Ready to serve.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Prepare the listed ingredients. Collect rose hips when they are slightly dried or after the first frost. Use sugar to taste, or omit it altogether.
- 2
Step 2

Sort the rose hips, removing dry stems and leaves. Place the berries in a deep container and rinse them several times in water.
- 3
Step 3

Put the berries into a saucepan or pot. Add the granulated sugar and lemon slices as well.
- 4
Step 4

Pour in hot water and place the container on the stove. Do not bring the liquid to a boil; instead, heat it until steam begins to form on the surface, just before boiling. Then turn off the heat, cover the pot with a lid, and let the rose hips steam for 15 minutes.
- 5
Step 5

After the specified time, the berries will sink to the bottom — this means they have already been steamed.
- 6
Step 6

Pour the morse into cups and drink it warm, but only through a straw—this drink damages tooth enamel and stains it dark!
