Description

Cook until the liquid evaporates, then add chopped onions and pour in the sour cream mixture. Gently shake the skillet to avoid breaking the delicate fish. Thaw the smelt and rinse under running water. Then fry the fish in vegetable oil until all the moisture has evaporated. Do not flip!

Slice the onion into half-rings.

Mix the sour cream with salt, pepper, and dried dill. Add 100 ml of water and mix again.

Place the chopped onion on the fish, then pour the sour cream mixture on top. Gently shake the pan in different directions to prevent the navaga from sticking to the bottom. Do not flip the fish with a spatula, as it may fall apart. Bring to a boil, cover with a lid, and cook for another 5 minutes.
