Mussels in oyster sauce
Description
Mussels in oyster sauce — a simple, quick, and delicious dish that can be served at a dinner party. If desired, water can be replaced with white wine, making the sauce fragrant and incredibly tasty.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Prepare all the ingredients. Peel and wash the onion and garlic. Rinse the mussels as well, making sure all the shells are tightly closed; discard any that are open.
- 2
Step 2

Heat vegetable oil in a skillet, add the onion cut into half-rings, and sauté for a few minutes until soft. Then add peeled grated ginger root and garlic to the skillet, and sauté for another minute.
- 3
Step 3

Pour in the oyster sauce.
- 4
Step 4

Add low-sodium soy sauce.
- 5
Step 5

Add the seasoning, pour in warm water from the kettle, and bring the sauce to a boil. If desired, water can be replaced with white wine, which will make it very tasty. If the sauce is too thin, you can slightly thicken it with starch. Taste it, and if it needs more salt, add a little.
- 6
Step 6

Place the mussels in the sauce, cover the pan with a lid, and cook over medium heat for about 5-7 minutes.
- 7
Step 7

By this time, the mussels should be fully opened. If any shellfish has not opened, it should also be discarded.
- 8
Step 8

After some time, transfer the cooked mussels to a serving dish, pour the sauce from the pan over them, and serve. Cold beer or dry white wine will be an excellent complement to this dish.
