Instructions
- 1
Step 1

First, prepare the sauce for the mussels. To do this, put mayonnaise in a large bowl, add processed cheese, sugar, ketchup, lemon juice, and garlic that should first be passed through a press. Season lightly with pepper to taste. Mix all the ingredients thoroughly.
- 2
Step 2

Score the tomato with a knife to form a cross. Bring water to a boil and pour boiling water over the tomato. Peel off the skin and chop into small pieces with a sharp knife.
- 3
Step 3

Grate the Parmesan on a fine grater. If you don't have this exact cheese, any hard variety you have on hand will work.
- 4
Step 4

Now it's time to prepare the mussels themselves. Place them in a saucepan and set over low heat. Wait until the mussels release their liquid, then braise them for five minutes.
- 5
Step 5

Remove the mussel meat from the shells. Rinse the shells thoroughly and scrub them with a brush so no sand or shell fragments remain.
- 6
Step 6

Take a baking sheet and line it with parchment. Arrange the mussel shells tightly next to each other.
- 7
Step 7

Place a little chopped tomato in each shell. Spread the sauce on top. Then put one piece of mussel meat on the sauce in each shell and press everything down lightly.
- 8
Step 8

Put a little more sauce on the mussel meat again. Then sprinkle each stuffed shell with grated cheese. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees, place the baking sheet with the mussels in it for 10–15 minutes. Serve the dish hot.
