Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Prepare the listed ingredients. Buy mussels frozen or fresh, in closed shells.
- 2
Step 2

Pour white wine into a saucepan or cauldron, add the mussels in their shells, and place an uncut chili pepper pod into the pan. Cover the container with a lid, set it on the stove, and simmer the mussels for about 5–10 minutes until they open. Stir a couple of times to ensure they are all moistened with wine.
- 3
Step 3

Wash the tomatoes in water and slice them into rounds, removing the green cores. Place them on a plate.
- 4
Step 4

Slice half of a red onion into half-rings and place on top of the tomato slices layer.
- 5
Step 5

Wash the basil sprigs, pick off the leaves, and place them on the tomatoes.
- 6
Step 6

In a bowl, combine salt, ground pepper, and odorless vegetable oil—preferably cold-pressed olive oil. Mix well. Add other spices and seasonings to taste, if desired.
- 7
Step 7

Drain the mussels from the broth and place them on the sliced tomatoes.
- 8
Step 8

Pour with the prepared dressing and serve immediately.
