Steamed Mussels
Description
A delicious appetizer for any gathering. Right after cooking, the mussels can be marinated in your favorite spices; you can add sauce, lemon juice, or pickled onion — whatever your heart desires. These mussels are great both in a salad and simply as an appetizer.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Prepare the ingredients.

Step 2

Take the mussels out of the freezer ahead of time, then allow them to thaw on their own. Rinse the mussels well and pat dry. Place the mussels in a steamer basket.
- 3
Step 3

Place the sieve in a pot of boiling water and steam the mussels for 12–15 minutes.
- 4
Step 4

Transfer the cooked mussels to a bowl, add salt, pepper, and dried garlic to taste. You can also add any spices you like.
- 5
Step 5

Add lemon juice to the mussels. I like a touch of tartness in seafood; it pairs very well with mussels. Serve the mussels.
