Step 1

1. First, thoroughly wash and dry the oranges. Make cuts and carefully peel off the skin.

Step 2

2. This classic orange marmalade recipe will use the peel. To prepare it, thoroughly clean the inner side of the peel from white membranes and thinly slice it into uniform strips. This will make the marmalade look much more attractive. Place the prepared peel into a saucepan, cover with cold water, bring to a boil, then simmer over low heat for about 30–35 minutes.

Step 3

3. Oranges need to be carefully separated into segments, and all the membranes that could make the marmalade bitter should be removed.

Step 4

4. The juice released during the preparation process will also be useful. Once all the oranges are ready, add the juice of 1 lemon to them.

Step 5

5. Place the peeled oranges, zest, and sugar into a large saucepan. Add more boiling water if needed and put over heat. The amount of sugar depends on the sweetness of the oranges and your taste preferences.

Step 6

6. After boiling, it is not necessary to constantly stir the jelly, but you should monitor its consistency.

Step 7

7. The cooked and thickened homemade orange marmalade can be poured into预先 prepared jars, sterilized for about 15 minutes, and you'll get an excellent vitamin C-rich winter preserve.
