
Polish-style pickled onions for winter
Description
Homemade preserves keep for a long time. It is worth noting right away: for cooking, medium-sized onions of roughly round shape work best. Polish-style marinated onions for winter, made at home, are an excellent appetizer with the main course or a great ingredient for a vegetable salad. Definitely try them if you have not before. The preserve is ready for winter storage.

Peel the onion and wash it thoroughly.

Bring the water to a boil, and add salt to it.

Dip the onion bulbs into boiling water (literally for 2–3 minutes). Then immediately transfer the onions to cold water.

In the end, your onions will turn out beautiful and translucent.

Place the herbs, bay leaves, and peppercorns in sterilized jars.

Prepare a fresh marinade. For 1 liter of water, use 1 tbsp salt, 1 tsp sugar, and 2 tbsp vinegar. Divide the onions among the jars and cover them with boiling marinade for 5 minutes. Then drain the marinade again, bring it back to a boil, and pour it over the jars once more.

Seal the jars and wrap them in a blanket until completely cool. Store the onions in a cool place until winter.
