Instructions

Step 1

1. For these rolls, you only need a few ingredients. If you find marinated herring fillets, you can use them; if not, make them yourself.
- 2
Step 2

2. Clean the herring and cut it into portions, then you can sprinkle it with vinegar and rub it all over with your hands.
- 3
Step 3

3. Cover with plastic wrap and pound lightly with a mallet.
- 4
Step 4

4. In a separate bowl, mash the processed cheese with a fork. This will be our filling; meanwhile, marinate the onion.
- 5
Step 5

5. 10 minutes will be enough for the onion to marinate. I use a classic marinade: vinegar, salt, and sugar to taste.
- 6
Step 6

6. On the surface of the fillet, spread processed cheese, grated apple, and pickled onion.
- 7
Step 7

7. Wrap the herring fillet in plastic wrap and gently press it with your hands. Refrigerate for 30 minutes.
- 8
Step 8

8. Slice the rolls, then remove the plastic wrap.
- 9
Step 9

9. Cut the bread into rounds (white or black — your choice). This will be the base for our roll-ups.
- 10
Step 10

10. Arrange the marinated herring rolls on a serving plate. You may garnish them with herbs to taste.
