Homemade Marinated Mussels
Description
Perfect for the table and with drinks. To give the marinated mussels a little extra heat, you can add garlic. Chop two cloves and add them to the marinade you will pour over the mussels. The marinade itself can be useful for soups and sauces, so do not rush to pour it away. The appetizer is ready. Serve immediately.

Step 1

I choose fairly large mussels. If you are using frozen mussels for cooking, they need to be thawed naturally. Under no circumstances use a microwave or hot water for thawing. Then rinse them thoroughly and clean them.

Step 2

Now let's prepare the marinade. Bring about 500 milliliters of water to a boil, add salt and black peppercorns. Let the water boil well, then add the mussels. Before the water has a chance to come back to a boil, pour in the vinegar.

Step 3

Mussels need to be boiled for 2 to 5 minutes. I judge doneness by smell. As soon as a pleasant fish aroma begins to spread through the kitchen, you can turn off the heat.

Step 4

Remove the mussels from the marinade. When it has cooled, pour it over them again and let stand for 4–5 hours. The mussels should infuse at room temperature. When ready, serve as an appetizer with lemon or add to various dishes.
