
Marinated Pike
Description
The appetizer is quick and easy to prepare. You can make this fish dish, alluring in appearance and aroma, at home if you have freshly caught or store-bought pike. The appetizer turns out perfectly juicy and velvety in taste—just right for a shot of vodka or a glass of beer. Serve with herbs and sauce.

Prepare the necessary ingredients. Clean the pike in advance, removing the scales and entrails by slitting the fish’s belly below the head. Rinse the carcass thoroughly inside and out, washing away the blood under the backbone.

Bring the water to a boil and pour all the spices into a deep container. Add salt and bay leaves, mix gently, and let cool for 30–40 minutes. After cooling, pour in the vinegar and vegetable oil.

Cut the cleaned and rinsed pike carcass into serving-size pieces and place them in the prepared marinade. If desired, you can cover the container with a plate or transfer the contents to a one-liter jar and seal with a plastic screw-on lid. Place everything in the refrigerator for at least 24 hours. During this time, gently shake the contents of the container occasionally for even marinating.

To serve, arrange the marinated pike on a platter without the marinade. Serve chilled.
