Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Prepare the listed ingredients. From the piece of salmon, remove the skin along with the scales, fillet it, and remove the backbone. Rinse the flesh in water and pat dry with paper towels.
- 2
Step 2

Peel the onion, rinse it, slice into half-moons, and place in a deep container.
- 3
Step 3

Add allspice berries and bay leaves there as well, sprinkle in salt and ground black pepper.
- 4
Step 4

Pour in apple cider vinegar, or replace it with the same amount of lemon juice. Do not add oil!
- 5
Step 5

Cut the fish flesh into slices and place it in a container. The finer the cut, the faster it will marinate.
- 6
Step 6

Gently mix the contents of the container with light pressure so the marinade is absorbed into the flesh. You will see the salmon pieces lighten as a result. Cover the container with plastic wrap and place in the refrigerator for 24 hours. Stir the contents of the container again after 6–8 hours.
- 7
Step 7

After the specified time, the fish slices will release juice and marinate. Taste them. If you want a tangier appetizer, leave them for another day.
- 8
Step 8

Place the marinated salmon on plates and serve with bread, crackers, and toast.
