Meat and onion manty
Description
The dish is easy to prepare without unnecessary complications. You can make meat manty for a festive table or a family dinner. The manty turn out very tasty, juicy, and aromatic! Your family will be delighted! You can use any meat: pork, beef, or lamb. A mix also works well. It's best to use meat with a little fat, then you won't need to add extra fat. Use onions in approximately a 1:1 ratio to the meat. Thanks to the large amount of onions, the meat manty won't be greasy, but rather tender and very juicy! I highly recommend you try it—definitely save this recipe. Serve the finished dish at the table.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Prepare all the ingredients.
- 2
Step 2

Pour cold water into a deep bowl, add the egg, oil, 1 tsp salt, and mix everything.
- 3
Step 3

Add the flour in parts. First mix everything with a fork, then continue kneading by hand.
- 4
Step 4

The amount of flour may be slightly more or less than specified in the recipe. The finished dough should be like dumpling dough—fairly dense, elastic, and not sticky to the hands at all. Cover the dough with a clean towel and let it rest.
- 5
Step 5

Meanwhile, prepare the filling. Cut the meat into small pieces with a sharp knife—the finer, the better. It's most convenient to chop the meat when it's slightly frozen.
- 6
Step 6

Add onion, cut into cubes of approximately the same size, to the meat. Add pepper, cumin, and salt to taste.
- 7
Step 7

Mix everything thoroughly.
- 8
Step 8

Take the rested dough and cut off a piece. Roll it out into a rectangular sheet about 2 mm thick. Grease the work surface and rolling pin with vegetable oil or dust with flour beforehand. Then cut the dough into squares using a knife. The size of the squares depends on the desired size of the future manty. Place the filling, about 1 tablespoon, onto each square.

Step 9

Now shape the manty. To do this, take one corner of the square and join it with the opposite corner. Do the same with the remaining two corners. Turn the resulting envelope into a manty by connecting two adjacent corners. Alternatively, shape the manty in any other convenient way.

Step 10

Grease each steamer tray with oil and place the prepared mantu on them. Steam the mantu over high heat with the lid tightly closed for 40–50 minutes.

Step 11

The meat and onion manty are ready. Brush them with butter and serve, garnished with fresh herbs and your favorite sauces.
