Classic manty
Description
The recipe won't take much time. You'll also need a steamer or bamboo steamer and a small spoon of vegetable oil to grease the dish in which the manty will be cooked. Traditionally, manty are steamed in a mantovarka or mantyshnitsa, but I don't have one, so I use a steamer or a multicooker. Modern multicookers have a steam function and a special colander with large holes, which is very convenient for cooking. Serve hot.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Prepare the ingredients. I previously washed the meat (a fatty piece of pork and a small piece of beef) and ground it through a meat grinder using a coarse plate.
- 2
Step 2

First, you need to make the dough. Take a deep bowl, add two cups of flour, salt, and icy water into it. Start kneading the dough.
- 3
Step 3

During kneading, add flour gradually; the dough should be firm! Wrap it in plastic wrap and let it rest for 30 minutes.
- 4
Step 4

Finely chop the onion as finely as possible, add it to the minced meat. Also add water, salt, and ground black pepper, then knead the mixture until smooth and uniform.
- 5
Step 5

The filling is ready, the dough has rested, let's move on to shaping.
- 6
Step 6

Divide the dough into 4 parts. Roll each part into a rope about 4 cm in diameter, then cut into pieces (approximately 3 cm each). Roll each piece thinly to a diameter of 9 cm. Place a full tablespoon of filling and a piece of butter in the center of each flatbread.
- 7
Step 7

Pinch the edge in the middle, as shown in the photo.
- 8
Step 8

Pinch the edges as shown in the photo.
- 9
Step 9

Connect the edges together. Done!
- 10
Step 10

Grease the steamer basket with fat and place the manty a short distance apart. Steam them for 30 minutes from the moment steam appears.
- 11
Step 11

Classic manty are ready! Serve them with various sauces, sour cream, or drizzle with melted butter.
