Lightly Salted Cucumbers in 10 Minutes
Description
A delicious appetizer for any gathering. The best summer appetizer is lightly salted cucumbers. It pairs well with any side dish, meat or fish course, and doesn't take long to prepare. If possible, it's best to make it ahead of time so the cucumber slices can properly salt through. Serve with herbs and sauce.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Prepare the listed ingredients. Rinse the cucumbers in water, removing dust and spines, and trim the ends from the fruit.
- 2
Step 2

Cut the fruits into quarters and place them in a deep container.
- 3
Step 3

Rinse the parsley or dill and chop finely. Peel the garlic cloves, rinse them in water, and slice them. Add the chopped ingredients to the container with the cucumbers.
- 4
Step 4

Add the salt and black peppercorns. The listed spices are enough, but you can add others to taste.
- 5
Step 5

Gently mix everything and leave it in the refrigerator for 30 minutes. During this time, the salt will “draw out” liquid from the slices, and the cucumbers will pickle in their own juice.
- 6
Step 6

Place the lightly salted cucumbers on a plate and serve. Remember that when salting whole cucumbers, they need to sit for about 4–5 hours; otherwise they will remain unsalted inside.
