
Lightly salted herring
Description
The appetizer is quick and easy to prepare. You can make delicious, aromatic herring at home with this very simple recipe. It’s not that difficult, and the result will definitely please you. The herring turns out tender and tasty, and you can adjust the salting level yourself: the longer the fish stays in the brine, the saltier it will become over time.

Thaw the fish, and in the meantime prepare the brine. Pour in water and add all the spices.

And let our brine boil for 10 minutes. Then set it aside to cool.

Cut the heads off the thawed fish and clean out the entrails. Rinse the fish thoroughly.

Cut the fish into pieces and place them in a jar.

Use a jar with a wide mouth; pack the fish without filling it all the way to the top.

Pour in the brine, then wait a little so the brine distributes inside. Then add more brine until the jar is full to the top.

Cover the jar with a lid and leave the fish for an hour to an hour and a half, then put it in the refrigerator. You can try it after about 4 hours. If the fish still isn’t salty enough to your taste, wait another hour.
